I’ll just take this news of ShotSpotter being a creepy police-state surveillance apparatus that operates outside of normal democratic oversight mechanisms as an opportunity to remind everyone that is ShotSpotter is also a mechanism for whitewashing police bias with statistics by taking a map of where police put microphones and presenting it as a supposed map of where gun violence occurs.
